Bonini Black came about almost by chance, as many great inventions do. This kind of serendipity, which now carries the name of Fabio Massimo Bonini, came into being just a stone’s throw from Modena, where the veteran actor and owner was born.

After many years of tasting, the first version of Bonini Black came into being, a high-quality culinary experiment, the work of Fabio and a group of close friends who had one goal: excellence. Not being able to count on its own historical production, Bonini Black was perfected following detailed research, tasting the production of several barrels all around the county. Thus was born a production of modest dimensions, but of an extremely high quality. Testament to this are Bonini Black’s first illustrious clients: Sergio Mei, Heinz Beck, Ettore Bocchia and many others, who will serve as an important incentive never to let our standards drop.

After years of passion, and an almost playful approach, Fabio Massimo Bonini decided that it was time to grow and increase the partners’ investment. Following a painstaking search the ideal location was identified in which to create what today is our Cascina. Not to be underestimated in this process is the key contribution made by Fabio’s wife Betty.

Now that Bonini Black has premises that match the high quality of the product, the next step, and one that is no less important, is to establish commercial relationships based on trust and a shared passion for the very highest quality ingredients. And there could be no better partner on this front than Longino & Cardenal, today perhaps the leading distributor of Italian fine food, to whom we have delegated the exclusive rights to distribution within the Italian national territory.

Today Fabio Massimo Bonini spends ever-longer periods in the United States and around the world seeking commercial partners to distribute a truly unique product. The business, which now also includes a Bed & Breakfast at the Cascina, is growing thanks to the contribution of a few amazing individuals who over the years have become contributors and ambassadors of what has always been the core message that Bonini Black aims to share in Italy and the world: a unique artisanal product that has earned its reputation as “the top chef’s condiment of choice”.
